Apparently Cristian Guzman and Manny Acta so enjoyed their time together in Washington they are on the verge of joining forces in Cleveland. The 34-year-old Guzman is is expected to sign a minor-league contract with the Indians, according to MLB.com. After sitting out last season, the two-time All-Star shortstop will beinvited to spring training for an opportunity to make the Indians as a reserve infielder.Signing with the Nationals in 2005, Guzman'srun in Washingtonbegan with a brutal a .219 average in his debut season, but he rebounded with .318 in 2008 and batted .282 in 82 games during the 2010 season before being shipped to the Rangers. Acta managed Guzman when both were with the Nationals and skippered the Indians to a surprising second place finish in the AL Central last season. With his lack of power and minimal on-base percentage, Guzman is no sure thing to stick in Cleveland. However, assuming theswitch-hitter can still handle the bat and with his ability to play both middle infield spots, maybe he makes the opening day roster. If he does, hopefully fall all involved Guzman gets off to a better start.
