Virginia fans are hungry. They want to win. Dont get me wrong, the success of Olympic sports in Charlottesville is impressive, but lets face it, they dont carry the level of excitement and enthusiasm football and mens basketball does.

As far as football goes, I can tell you head coach Mike London understands the frustrations and the hunger and is doing everything he can to raise the program up. I made the trip down to Charlottesville on April 5th and had a chance to catch up with London for the first time since National Signing Day. I mentioned what a great day he had back in February and he admitted it was good, but that there needs to be three or four of those in a row to really make an impact. I agree 100, Coach.

The Cavaliers held their spring game a bit early this year in order to take advantage of a big alumi weekend and a big mens lacrosse game between Virginia and Maryland. The Wahoos have two practices remaining with a lot of question marks next to prime positions. The biggest question mark of all is at quarterback. With Marc Verica gone, London and his staff must choose between Ross Metheny, Michael Rocco, Michael Strauss and David Watford. So far none of them have set themselves apart from the rest. This competition might easily carry into fall practice before a decision is made.

Ill be making trips to Blacksburg and College Park before spring football ends so keep checking back for updates.
