The Wizards lost Josh Howard to Utah, but have signed forward Maurice Evans to a free agent contract.
Wizards brass have hinted this week that they were hoping to sign another veteran and they have appeared to do so with Evans, who played in 26 games for the Wizards last season, starting 12 and averaging 9.7 points a game. Evans is an energy player off the bench and is a pretty decent defender.
The Wizards coaching staff praised Evans' leadership in the locker room, even though he played for a short time in D.C. after coming over in a trade from Atlanta.
Evans had played for Coach Flip Saunders before, both in Minnesota and Detroit and now apparently again with the Wizards.
