Like a full house of Caps fans, I headed to Verizon Center last night curious to see how the boys would approach a game against a New Jersey Devils team that has been simply awful this season. After a sluggish start, I got my answer: the Caps played like the Caps.

Funny thing is, the damage was done by some of the smaller names on the roster. I mean, who had Andrew Gordon and Jay Beagle as the team's first two scorers? It was a quality 5-1 win over a Devils team that looked horrendous. Hard to believe that a proud franchise like that one has sunk so low.

Anyway, now we can all get geared up for Thursday night and the Penguins. I know I can't wait. Also, I'm anxiously awaiting episode 2 of 247 on HBO tonight. I imagine that the Caps will be a lighter, looser bunch in this one and Bruce Boudreau will be in good spirits. By the way, anyone complaining about a hockey coach dropping curses on their struggling team in the locker room needs to wake up. That's why it's reality TV. Get over it.....

-If you're into the twitter thing, Gordon's handle is: @AndrewGordon10...Seems like a really good kid. Congrats to him for this first NHL goal.

-Am I the only one who thinks that something looks different about Alex Ovechkin this season? I can't quite place my finger on it. Not as explosive? I know that he still leads the league in shot attempts so I imagine that they'll start finding the net but something just looks a little off....I'll ask Alan May about that on today's show.

-The Wizards go for two tonight against the Bulls but no John Wall so we'll all be cheated out of a good WallDerrick Rose matchup. Rose is one of my favorite players to watch live in the league. I know Ted Leonsis doesn't want to market opposing players but man, he's worth the price of admission. The Bulls crushed Philly last night and have won 8 of 9 so it won't be easy for the Wizards. I'll be there.....

-No idea what to say about this Rex Ryan story on mean, I've seen it all....Going to be an interesting press conference for the Rex-ster today.....

-In addition to Alan May, Washington Post Redskins reporter Jason Reid will join me on today's show to break down the B and G......Please get involved: twitter.comwashpostlive.
