By Ivan Carter
It was a little strange seeing Gilbert Arenas in an Orlando Magic uniform last night but after a few minutes, that feeling went away and it felt pretty natural. Again, strange. The trade was good for the Wizards, who are at the very early stage of a huge rebuilding project and it was good for the Magic, who picked up some scoring in Gilbert, Jason Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu and had to do something with Vince Carter and Rashard Lewis.
I covered Gilbertology for four years as a beat reporter at the Post and let me tell you: there is nothing I can compare it to. Sometimes it was fun, sometimes is was horrible, sometimes it was simply confusing. I mean, it's Gilbertology. Dan Steinberg did the single best job of summarizing the Arenas experience in today's Post. Check it out here:
Well done Dan.
Anyway, I wish Gilbert nothing but the best. As for the Wizards, well, it's going to be interesting to see Ernie Grunfeld build this team back from where it is now. John Wall is a great start but man, I'm already concerned about that knee. Guess I've seen too much Wizards luck with injuries over the years, huh?
-Check out today's show: Charley Casserly will be in the house along with Barry Svrluga of the Post and I'll check in with Jill Sorenson live from Verizon Center where the Caps will go for two straight wins. How did the New Jersey Devils get so awful? Casserly and Svrluga will discuss the state of the Skins, Donovan McNabb's future and we'll hit on some NFL subjects as well. I'm curious to hear who they'd take in the MVP race: Tom Brady or Michael Vick.
Check it out at 5. Replay at 11:30. As always, folks can tweet the show at www.twitter.comwashpostlive.
