A strained left calf will sideline Wizards forward Andray Blatche three to five weeks, according to coach Randy Wittman.
Blatche suffered the injury in the win over Charlotte on Saturday. The seventh-year forward has struggled with a shoulder injury as well and has come off the bench in the last two games.
He tweaked it pretty good in Charlotte, Wittman said. Obviously, there's a lot of bleeding in there, which leads to the inflammation in the calf. We've got to get that out of there first, and then we'll have a better idea what we're looking at."
Blatche is averaging just 10 points and seven rebounds this season. He averaged 16 points and eight boards last season.
Without Blatche, the Wizards will likely continue start rookie forward Jan Vesely, who has started the last two games. This will also mean more playing time for Trevor Booker and Kevin Seraphin.
Second-year center Hamady Ndiaye has been called up from the D-League to fill Blatches spot on the roster for now.
