Capitals Play-By-Play

These runaway games will come in handy for a team that expects tobattle very deep into the post season. By the third period tonight, themental strain of trying for victory in the NHL could be turned off.

TheMaple Leafs looked very good Thursday night putting down the Flyers, but they did not have the same sting this evening.

Alex Ovechkin tookthe wind out of their sails in the first minute tonight. He must giveLeafs goalie Vesa Toskala nightmares as he scores routinely on him gameafter game. Ovie had his passing game working tonight as his fourhelpers paved the way for a lop sided win.

So many players deservecredit from this outing. Eric Fehr continues to show us why he can bevery valuable in front of the goal. Mike Knuble demonstrated that heprefer to play in the high traffic areas in front of the net with histwo tap ins this evening.

Jose Theodore's net minding should not belost in the shuffle today despite an easy victory. The veteran netminder has been very sharp in his last two appearances, and isdetermined to grab DC's goal tending reins for himself until SemyonVarlamov returns from injury. Credit Theodore for keeping hisconcentration level high even while his team wasn't overly challenged.

A big thumbs up to Jason Chimera and Shaone Morrison for answering thebell physically in the third period. Jay Rosehill and Colton Orr werestirring the pot late in the game for the Leafs and those two Capsstood up to the challenge.

A tough stretch of games awaits the Caps inthe next week as encounters with Philadelphia, Detroit, Pittsburgh, andPhoenix are sure to test them. Tonight's display leads you to thinkthey are ready for what is to come.
