Virginia Tech senior wide receiver D.J. Coles will miss the rest of the 2012 season after suffering a knee injury in the Monday night victory over Georgia Tech.
Coles injured the right knee in the first quarter of the win over the Yellow Jackets. This past offseason, Coles underwent surgery to repair the PCL tendon in the same knee.
Coles will be eligible to apply for a medical hardship waiver from the NCAA due to playing in less than 30 percent of the 2012 season, according to a Virginia Tech news release. If the NCAA grants Coles the medical waiver, he would be eligible to return as a fifth-year senior.
