Hokies head coach Frank Beamer's website confirmed on Monday that Sophomore cornerback Donaldven Manning had decided to leave the University, citing no reason.
Manning saw limited time as a freshman, but struggled in the time he did see for the Hokies.
After nearly leaving the program in November, Manning toughed it out after meeting with Beamer, but ultimately decided to leave. The former four-star recruit had fallen behind freshman Kendall Fuller and Brandon Facyson early in summer practice.
Perhaps the lack of playing time was the reason for his departure? Regardless, this leaves the Hokies thin at cornerback as All-ACC performer Antone Exum recovers from offseason knee surgery, but he is expected back during the season.
