Three-star Pennsylvania running back Olamide Zaccheaus committed to Virginia Wednesday, announcing his decision via Twitter.

The decisive factor seems to be an unofficial visit to Charlottesville he took earlier this month. According to CavsCorner.com, Zaccheaus called Mike London Wednesday night to inform him of his commitment.

Virginia will lose seniors Khalek Shepherd and Kevin Parks at season’s end, but are deep and very young at the position with three freshman and two sophomores on the roster. Zaccheaus will have competition, but also the opportunity to contribute early.

Zaccheaus currently plays for St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia. You can see highlights of his play here.

In addition to Virginia, Zaccheaus also had offers from Miami (FL), Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, among others.  He is now the 13th member of Virginia’s 2015 recruiting class and the first running back.

Virginia also found out Thursday that they had lost out on DE/TE prospect Jake Pickard who announced his commitment to Wisconsin via Twitter. Rivals rated him as a two-star tight end and No. 33 player in New Jersey.
