Ravens linebacker Dannell Ellerbe may end up $10,000 lighter in the wallet after being fined by the NFL for a hit on Browns running back Trent Richardson on Sunday. The NFL said Ellerbe, who was flagged on the play, delivered a hit to the head and neck area of a defenseless player while Richardson was a receiver.

Not surprisingly, Ellerbe doesn’t agree with the league’s assessment.

“Yeah, they fined me,” Ellerbe told The Baltimore Sun. “I appealed it already. I jumped the pass and when he missed it, I hit him. They need to get rid of this fine. It’s B.S.”

A couple of weeks ago, the NFL fined the Ravens $20,000 for supposedly not following league procedures in listing players on the official injury report, specifically safety Ed Reed.  Coach John Harbaugh said that was B.S., too. He didn’t use that phrase, but it was clear that was his position.

In September, Reed was fined $21,000 for his hit on Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch. And guess what? Reed disagreed, too, saying the league was "changing the game."

Notice a pattern here?
