Members of the media or fans or even coaches may talk about a team’s identity, but it’s not necessarily about who you are but what you can do.

And if you’re a coach, you want your team to do, well, everything.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh was asked Monday about being committed to the running game on offense. He used his answer to talk about all the things he’s looking for from his team.

“We need to be able to run the ball, absolutely,” Harbaugh said. “That’s kind of our identity. We want to be a physical football team; we need to stop the run. But we have to stop the pass, too. We have to rush the passer, too, and we have to be able to throw the ball, as well.

“The truth is it’s going to take different things in different games to win.”

Except for special teams, Harbaugh just named every aspect of offense and defense. And after talking about wanting to be physical, Harbaugh also said he wants to see the Ravens have “the capability to be an up-tempo offense.”

So, yes, he does want it all — which Harbaugh acknowledged.

“I’m saying yes to everything,” he said, “but the fact is you have to be good at all those things to win games.”
