Could former Ravens linebaker Brendon Ayanbadejo be coming to your TV room soon?

Not in person, mind you, but Ayanbadejo was among 25 current and former NFL players who took part in the NFL’s eighth annual Broadcast Boot Camp recently. The four-day workout put the players through the paces in what would be a logical second career.

Held at NFL Films headquarters in New Jersey, the boot camp included segments as a studio analyst and field reporter and also included a spot on Sirius XM NFL Radio. In addition to Ayanbadejo, other participants this year included former Ravens receiver Donte Stallworth, Brady Quinn, Sage Rosenfels, Deion Branch and Amani Toomer.

“The goal for us is to make this as real-life as we can,” said Glenn Adamo, vice president of NFL media operations.

“We guide them. We try to teach them a sense of urgency that broadcasters need. We also teach them how to speak for television, how to write for television.”

The would-be TV stars get tips from some of the top names in the business; past instructors have included Ravens play-by-play man and WBAL broadcaster Gerry Sandusky.

Ayanbadejo, who did some work for Fox Sports this past year, certainly has the photogenic look to succeed on television. And he would join a long list of boot camp participants cashing in on their experience; according to the NFL, more than one-third of the players who have take part in the boot camp over the previous seven years have landed broadcasting jobs.
