More power to O's Jones next year?

More power to O's Jones next year?

Here’s something for the Orioles to be even more optimistic about for next season: Adam Jones.

Wait, you say, didn’t Jones already turn in a terrific season in 2012? True enough, but consider how much better it could have been.

Jones ended up with 32 home runs, but he started off on a pace to hit even more. Through the first two months of the season, Jones had 16 homers in 51 games. At the same rate, that works out to about 50 home runs for the year.

However, on May 30, Jones was hit on the left wrist by a pitch from the Blue Jays’ Brandon Morrow and aggravated the wrist on a slide less than a week later. Jones kept playing through the pain, but more than a month later, he said the wrist was still bothering him. In June, Jones’ homers dropped to three.

So, if Jones comes into 2013 with his wrist completely healthy and can stay that way, the Orioles might just see even bigger power output.

Just a little something to warm that hot stove.
