If you thought things couldn’t get any worse for the Maryland Terrapins football team, you were wrong.
Already forced to play linebacker Shawn Petty at quarterback for the remainder of the season, the injury bug has now claimed emerging stars Stefon Diggs and Wes Brown.
Diggs, who was in the middle of breakout year at wide receiver and kick returner, had been the lone bright spot for the struggling Terps. But his services will be sidelined with an ankle injury when the team travels to Death Valley the weekend to play Clemson.
Brown had been coming on of late at running back, but like his Good Counsel High School teammate Diggs, he too will miss the Clemson game with an ankle injury.
Other notable players to grace Maryland’s injury report this week are defensive leaders defensive lineman Joe Vellano (questionable) and linebacker Jenny Tate (probable).
The Terps have already lost nine players for the season including quarterbacks CJ Brown (knee), Devin Burns (foot), Caleb Rowe (knee), and starters Kerry Boykins (WR, hip), Nick Ferrara (PK/P, hip) and linebacker Demetrius Hartsfield (knee).
