Brenda Frese signed a multi-year extension that will keep her at the helm of Maryland Women's Basketball through at least 2021. Athletic Director Kevin Anderson made the announcement today.

Frese led the Terps to their first National Title in 2006 and has an overall record of 280-81 over the course of 12 years.

"Coach Frese has been the driving force in putting Maryland women's basketball in a position of national prominence during her time here in College Park," Anderson said. "Her 2006 national title, ACC dominance and consistent top recruiting classes have made Maryland a contender year after year."

In addition to the success of the program, which includes eight top-10 recruiting classes, Frese earned AP Coach of the Year in 2002, has produced four ACC Rookie of year selections, and three first round WNBA draft picks.

"Maryland has been a-dream-come true for me, both professionally and personally. I want it to be that way for all the great people we bring into our program," Frese said.

"I truly feel like this is the best place in the country to be in so many different ways. There's no place that has a better combination of where to live, where to get a great education and where to have a great basketball experience. "

Maryland will host national power and defending champs Connecticut on Friday at 6 at the Comcast Center.
