Less than two weeks after being called up from the NBA Development League the Washington Wizards have waived guard Shelvin Mack.

Mack, who was cut during training camp, signed as a free agent on December 25th.

In seven games he averaged 5.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists.

Mack was originally selected by Washington with the 34th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.  He spent the first 11 games of the 2012-13 season with the Maine Red Clasws of the NBA D-League where he averaged 19.7 points and 7.5 assists while playing 40.7 minutes per game.

With Monday’s 5 p.m. deadline to guarantee player’s contracts and the impending return of both John Wall and A. J. Price from injury the move doesn’t come as a surprise.  Garrett Temple however wasn’t released and will remain on the Wizards roster for the rest of the season.

The Wizards roster now stands at 14 players.
