Wizards looking forward to Brazil trip

While Nene is overjoyed to play in his native Brazil for an exhibition game with the Wizards next season, he knows it will be difficult to get his teammates to focus.

“I hope they enjoy it. That is an exhibition game so we go over there to work,” he said of the Oct. 12 game vs. the Chicago Bulls in Rio de Janeiro.

It will be the first NBA game played in the country, which will host the 2016 Olympic Games.

“The whole world knows. You guys hear about The Carnival. … There’s a lot of things to do. There’s a nice beach. A nice mall. A lot of shows. A lot of events. But for me, nothing’s changed,” Nene said. “I go to Brazil every summer and enjoy it over there. There’s going to be a lot of new things.”

The NBA is staging seven other preseason games overseas, including in Phillipines, Taiwan, England, China, Turkey and Spain.
