GEICO SportsNet Central update: Wiz fall to Heat

It's been well documented how the Wizards have had a knack of finding new ways to lose this season. The latest was an incredible scoreless drought at Miami, resulting in yet another defeat.

The Wizards kept it somewhat close with Miami for about three-and-a-half quarters but then the Heat took their game to a championship level, flipping the switch on and closing on a 21-0 run to beat Washington, 99-71, Sunday night in South Beach.

A Jordan Crawford jumper -- his only basket of the game -- cut the Heat's lead to 78-71 with 7:07 left in the fourth quarter -- and that would be the last points of the game for D.C., which went scoreless the rest of the way.The Wizards only got up seven shots in the last 7 minutes and missed all four free-throw chances it had.

Forward Martell Webster was the only Washington starter to score in double figures with 10 points. Rookie guard Bradley Beal, fresh off his best game as a pro in the loss to New Jersey Friday night when he scored 24 points, could only manage 9 versus Miami. Center Kevin Seraphin came off the bench to score 14 points.

Lebron James led the way for Miami with 24 points, while Ray Allen added 20 off the bench.

The loss was the fifth straight for the now 4-28 Wizards, who will tomorrow host the team Miami beat in the NBA Finals, Oklahoma City.
