Except for the rare exceptions, nobody likes coming off the bench in basketball. Being a starter is a badge of honor that players carry with great pride.
For now, Wizards' guard John Wall is getting it done off the bench but it's just a matter of time before he's starting again. Wall for now is the super sub as the coaching staff monitors his minutes as he returns from a sore knee. Wall missed the first 33 games of the season with a sore knee.
Wall has provided a major spark since his return, averaging 15.6 points and 7.6 assists in 25 minutes a game as the Wizards have gone 3-2. Wall logged a season-high 31 minutes and scored a season-high 24 points in the 94-87 loss at the L.A. Clippers Saturday night.
Although Wall has played well off the bench, the team need is better suited, obviously, when he can start. That could come as soon as tonight when 8-30 Washington visits 20-20 Portland.
