Wizards vs. Suns

at US Airways Center

TV: CSN, 10 p.m. ET

Season series: Wizards lead 1-0.

Last meeting: The Wizards won 127-105 on March 16 at Verizon Center. SF Martell Webster scored a career-high 34 points to lead six players in double figures. PG John Wall finished with 17 points and 11 assists. The Wizards only turned the ball over 10 times and totaled 30 assists.

Previous game: The Wizards lost to the Charlotte Bobcats 119-114 on Monday to fall to 23-43. The Suns beat the Los Angeles Lakers 99-76 on Monday to improve to 23-45.

Projected starting lineups: Wizards –- PG Wall, SG Garrett Temple, SF Martell Webster, PF Nene, C Emeka Okafor. Bobcats –- PG Goran Dragic, SG Wesley Johnson, SF P.J. Tucker, PF Markieff Morris, C Jermaine O’Neal.

Pivotal matchup: Wall vs. Dragic. In a fast-paced game, Wall dominated. Dragic had 12 points and 11 assists but missed 9 of his 14 shots. Wall made 8 of 11. The Suns have trouble playing in the half-court and creating their own shots. Wall is pushing the pace even on made baskets, which is allowing him to get to the rim and set up teammates for open 3s. Phoenix has to find a way to slow Wall, or else.

Trending upward: Nene's passing out of the low post has been superb. He had a season-high seven assists in Charlotte. ... Temple's jump shot keeps getting better, shooting 6-for-8, including 2-for-2 on three-pointers. With Bradley Beal still working his way back to full speed from a left ankle sprain, he doesn't have to rush.

Trending downward The defense has been slipping in the last two games. The Bobcats, the NBA's worst team, shot 53.2% and scored a season-high in points.

He said it: “If I could play Goran Dragic for 48 minutes I would, but I can’t kill him that way. When he is out of the game guys are going to have to take responsibility and step up.” – Suns coach Lindsey Hunter

Around the bend: Friday at L.A. Lakers, 10:30; Saturday at Golden State Warriors, 10:30. All games on CSN.
