Highlights: Wizards 106, Pistons 99

For most, Wednesday is New Year's as they welcome in 2014. For the Wizards, it's Hump Day, literally and figuratively. They're at .500 for the second time this season and a game vs. the Dallas Mavericks would put them over the mark for the first time in six years.

The Wizards (14-14) have won five of their last six games, erasing a double-digit deficit in the second half to beat the Detroit Pistons for the season game in a row, this time on the road, Monday 106-99.

"That'll mean a lot for us. The biggest thing is we want to do is get over that, not just get to it," said Bradley Beal, who scored nine of his 13 points in the third quarter of comeback win. "We're more than capable of doing that. We just got to be able to get over that hump. Once we get there, we got to just push forward and continue playing the way we've played these last couple games. I think we got a great opportunity to do so. We got a lot of home games coming up."

In fact, the next three games for the WIzards are at Verizon Center, starting with the Mavericks (CSN, 6 p.m. ET), Friday vs. the Toronto Raptors (CSN, 7) and Sunday vs. the Golden State Warriors (CSN, 6).

"It's there," John Wall said of the Wizards being poised enough to be an above-.500 team. "We just got to keep playing defense first. When we play defense first, it makes our game a lot better. One through five, everybody plays better. Even our bench, when we play defense first."
