The final slots for the U.S. men's basketball squad have been determined: The Poster Child, the Beard and Iggy are headed to London.Blake Griffin, James Harden and Andre Iguodala beat out Anthony Davis, Rudy Gay and Eric Gordon, USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo announced on Saturday night. The trio joins a starry Olympic roster headlined by Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Kevin Durant. With so many injuries- most notably to Dwight Howard, Derrick Rose and Dwyane Wade this may not be the dreamiest of U.S. men's basketball squads, but the uber-athletic squad remains the favorite for the gold. Only Spain with its big man trio of the Gasol brothers and Serge Ibaka appears threatening to a Team USA squad that is loaded in the backcourt and on the wings, though light in the middle."We projected we would have difficulty getting down to a roster of 12, regardless of the number of injuries that have taken place, because they are such an outstanding group of people and athletes," Colangelo said. "The final selections keep us in concert with our game plan to have athleticism, versatility and strong depth on our roster. I think our final roster epitomizes all of that."As I wrote yesterday, any combination from the final six options would not have been shocking or poor decisions, even I would have gone a different way. Then again, Davis is a pup, Gordon missed tons of games last season with injuries, and Griffin does things like this.Currently training in Las Vegas, Colangelo, head coach Mike Krzyzewski and Team USA will shift to D.C. July 13-15 before scrimmagingagainst Brazil - and Wizards center Nene - at the Verizon Center on July 16.We're getting closer...Team USA rosterForward: Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, Andre Iguodala, LeBron JamesGuard: Kobe Bryant, James Harden, Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Deron WilliamsCenter: Tyson Chandler, Kevin Love
