Signs of progress: Last season only three Wizards were on the NBA All-Star ballot. Four made this year's cut, specifically John Wall, Bradley Beal, Nene and Marcin Gortat.
Fans can vote daily for the 2014 event, which takes place in New Orleans on February 16 runs. Voting remains open for another 67 days, so says the NBA.com site. For those wishing to cast a ballot with some form of social media, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are in the mix.
It sure would be swell if any of the local four NBAers made the game for the first time, especially via the fan vote, but we know how the popularity contest works. I'll go out on a limb and say four spots in the Eastern Conference starting lineup go to LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose and probably Dwyane Wade. The fifth is more wide open since fans now vote for three frontcourt players rather than a center specific. I'd love to see Paul George, but guessing Kevin Garnett.
Orlando rookie and former DeMatha product Victor Oladipo is the only rookie on the actual ballot.
