Less than two hours before tipoff, coach Randy Wittman said Marcin Gortat would come off the bench for the second game in a row.

Less than an hour after that, Gortat was listed as the Wizards' starting center vs. the Philadelphia 76ers at Verizon Center (CSN, 7 p.m. ET).

Nene strained his left calf in the season-opener in Detroit on Wednesday. CSN Washington confirmed and that it was unlikely that Nene would practice before playing Philadelphia.

The 7-footer missed two practices and warmed up before Friday's game. Gortat and Trevor Booker will man the low post with the other expected starters, John Wall, Bradley Beal and Trevor Ariza.

Nene still hasn't been ruled inactive for the game.

When asked before the tip of he expected Nene to play in the home opener, Wittman responded: "Yep."
