The Wizards will have to try to end their three-game losing streak without Nene, who will miss his third game in a row Saturday vs. the Los Angeles Clippers at Verizon Center.
Trevor Booker, who had his best game of the season in a101-99 overtime loss at the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, will start in his place. Booker had 24 points and 14 rebounds, scoring six consecutive points during the extra period to give the Wizards a chance.
But what allowed the Wizards (9-12) to also compete was the play of Jan Vesely off the bench. He had eight points on 4 of 9 shooting and five rebounds in 18 minutes.
Kevin Seraphin, who has been dealing with right knee swelling, wasn't as effective. He logged only six minutes, had two turnovers and three fouls.
This means Vesely, who can be foul-prone, has to play smart, too. Seraphin has had issues even when healthy this season. There's no depth in the front-court without Nene.
Bradley Beal (lower right leg) still hasn't been cleared. Though he was getting up shots before the game, he has yet to practice fully or do full-court drills. The Wizards are playing back-to-back games and haven't practiced since Thursday.
