The day before the Wizards left for the season opener in Detroit, rookie Otto Porter went to get an MRI on his right hip flexor strain Monday, CSN Washington has learned.
Porter still hasn't practiced or participated in any full-contact drills since the Las Vegas summer league when he played less than three games because of hamstring soreness in the same leg.
He has been able to work out individually with the team's athletic trainer but doesn't appear close to returning.
Coach Randy Wittman said he's way behind on learning the system and being in game shape.
The Wizards open at the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday (CSN, 7:30 p.m. ET).
