Rockets outlast Wizards
There is average person tall. Then there is NBA tall. Then there is Gheorge Muresan. One look through 6-foot-11 center Marcin Gortat's Instagram account shows the difference.
First, we have a montage from this summer of the "Polish Machine" with the President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski, Gortat and Poland's first couple and all three with member's of Gortat charitable foundation. I couldn't find heights on Komorowski or his other half, but fair to say there are not a lot of potential dunk contest contestants among the non-Gortat's.
Next up, Gortat and teammate Jan Vesely. Both are listed at 6-feet-11, both most be careful of low ceilings. Fair enough.
Finally, Gortat posted this picture with the 7-foot-7 Muresan from Saturday's game against the Rockets, which ended in Washington's third straight home loss. For us regular folk who watched Muresan during his playing days or see him walking around the Verizon Center on game day, his size is still not to be believed. Despite his own giant ways, Gortat's reaction when standings next to Muresan is more in line with ours than not.
"At least one good memory from tonights game! Me and Mr. Gheorghe Muresan (7'7 , 231cm) ! Dont forget Im 7 feet tall!:) seriusly I look like a little kid:))) #giant #aktor#againfoultrouble #beforethegame"
Apparently Gortat's Instagram followers also enjoyed seeing their guy look undersized for once. Later in the comments, Gortat wrote, "People am I really gonna get 1000 likes for the first time in my life:)))????? Even after the trade i didnt get 1000 likes?:/"
Perhaps that's because trades happen all the time. Standing next to humans with Muresan's height does not.
