Al Harrington on Wizards: 'This is a great opportunity'

WAKING UP with the Wizards, as they have a shoot around Tuesday morning before their game vs. the Miami Heat at Verizon Center (CSN, 7 p.m. ET).

The status of Al Harrington is no longer doubt. He'll be on the court when the Wizards play the Heat.

Harrington missed the Wizards' second preseason game with the Chicago Bulls in Rio de Janeiro over the weekend.

His injury had come among a long line of them for the Wizards, and if Harrington wasn't able to play would've opened even more playing time for Jan Vesely, Kevin Seraphin, Trevor Booker and Pops Mensah-Bonsu.

Harrington stayed late to get up extra shots Tuesday. He went through the entire session and as he headed back to the locker room he told CSN Washington, "I'm in."

On Monday, Harrington was cautiously optimistic that he'd be on the floor.

"I feel alright. Just got a nagging little injury," said Harrington, who played only 10 games with the Orlando Magic last season because of a staph infection in his right knee. "Nothing serious. Just something I got to take a little time to get through.

"I felt this kind of pain before like when I run on the treadmill for the first time, but it usually goes away after a couple days. It didn't."

Rookie Otto Porter (right hip flexor) still hasn't practiced. He's doing non-contact drills on the sideline. The Wizards already are without Emeka Okafor (herniated disk) and Chris Singleton (left foot/toe surgery).
