The Wizards have moved quickly on personnel decisions such as free agency and John Wall's contract extension this summer.
But they plan to wait before deciding whether or not to pick up the fourth year options on the contracts of Jan Vesely and Chris Singleton. Both players are entering their third season and are coming off sub-par sophomore campaigns. Both played in the Las Vegas summer league, with Vesely showing signs of breaking out of his shell and justifying his 2011 lottery-pick status.
Singleton's status is more complicated because a left foot/toe fracture that required surgery and a screw insertion last week. He could miss as many as the next two months.
"We have a good feel for where he is and what he brings to the table and it is an important year for these guys," president Ernie Grunfeld said this week. "That's a decision we'll make at the appropriate time which will probably be at the end of the month.
