Everyone loved Pharrell Williams' song "Happy" when the clap-along hit first popped up on airwaves. Hopefully everyone still loves the song on the umpteenth listen because you're going to hear it some more courtesy of the Washington Wizards.
The organization released a video on Sunday before Game 4 against the Indiana Pacers with "Happy" serving as the anthem over a montage of many dancing and smiling including Wizards and Capitals owner Ted Leonsis, D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray, Councilwoman and Democratic nominee for Mayor Muriel Bowser, Bullets alumni Gheorghe Muresan and Bob Dandridge, and Comcast SportsNet’s own Chris Miller, Ron Thompson, Gary Williams and Michael Jenkins.
I've already watched it three times, pausing along the way to catch all the moves from colleagues and fans and whatnot. As an owner of two left feet, I won't be commenting on anyone's dance moves, but I'll mention that the two faces of Michael Jenkins, winner. This also led to a YouTube visit for a viewing of this Washington Bullets "You Da Man" video, which clearly served as inspiration for the latest and also includes Muresan (Also, Chick Hernandez cameo at the 1:49 mark).
Game 4 tips at 8 p.m. Needless to say, everyone around town and certainly those inside the Verizon Center will be happy if the Wizards win Sunday and head to Indianapolis for Tuesday's Game 5 tied at 2-2.
