With the return of Chauncey Billups and the additions of Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings expectations in the motor city are high.

But those plans for a potential playoff push have hit a speed bump.

With combo guard Rodney Stuckey already out with a broken finger.

The Pistons have learned that Jennings will be out for three weeks with an impacted wisdom tooth and hairline fracture at the base of the tooth.

The former Buck was penciled in as the starting point guard but he will now miss Detroit’s season opener on October 30th against the Wizards.

Stuckey could return by the opener and is in the running for the starting shooting guard position along with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Kyle Singler.

The loss of Jennings and potentially Stuckey means that at age 37 Billups will likely be the opening night starter at point guard for the Pistons.

If Jennings is out for longer than expected that could work in the Wizards benefit, because both teams are expected to compete for the final two or three spots in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
