The Wizards were intent on taking away the energy plays from Lob City, which methodically picked them apart instead. Wednesday, they'll have to come up with another plan if they hope to get over .500 in their seventh attempt this season.

TV: Because of the late start, there is no pregame or postgame show. The game will tipoff from Staples Center at 10:30 p.m. ET on CSN. Radio: 1500 AM. 106.7 FM.

Last game: Wizards (22-22) won at the Golden State Warriors 88-85 on Tuesday; Clippers (32-15) won at the Milwaukee Bucks 114-86 on Monday. Season series: Clippers lead 1-0.

Last meeting: L.A. dominated from the opening tip with PG Chris Paul running the show, scoring 38 points on just 14 shots and his team generated 17 assists on its first 21 baskets on Dec. 14 at Verizon Center.

Projected starting lineups: Wizards –- PG John Wall, SG Bradley Beal, SF Trevor Ariza, PF Nene, C Marcin Gortat. Clippers –- PG Darren Collison, SG J.J. Redick, SF Matt Barnes, PF Blake Griffin, C DeAndre Jordan.

Entry passes: 1). Paul's absence (shoulder) should give the Wizards a better chance to win. 2). Jordan was 6-for-6 and can't be that efficient again. Make him earn his buckets on plays other than lobs and dunks. 3). Seemingly every game, someone on the Wizards is compiling five or more turnovers which has to stop. 4). Lock down shooters Redick and Crawford, and find them in transition. 5). Will Wall be able to duplicate his defensive effort against Collison?

X-factors: Garrett Temple (two points, four rebounds, two assists) and Trevor Booker (eight points, six rebounds) provided quality minutes off the bench in Golden State ... Given tired legs on a back-to-back, coach Randy Wittman may have to go deeper into his rotation.

Around the bend: The Wizards will spend the night in Los Angeles rather than flying back to D.C. immediately after the game because of the time change. They'll return Thursday, practice Friday at Verizon Center and host the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday (CSN, 7).
