Josh Childress didn't exactly have the chance to showcase his swingman skills as a member of the Wizards preseason roster.  That didn't stop the veteran from landing a job in the NBA.

The New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to terms with the free agent forward, Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowksi reports.

The Pelicans sought wing help after Tyreke Evans aggravated his sprained left ankle.

In seven NBA seasons, Childress averaged 9.2 points on 52.2 percent shooting from the field. In four preseason games with Washington, he averaged 2.0 points and 2.5 rebounds.

The 6-foot-8 Childress had virtually no chance of making the Wizards' opening day roster due to Washington's 15 guaranteed contracts and was waived before the start of the regular season. The former Stanford star might not pick up many minutes with the Pelicans, but having a chance to be benched beats no job at all.
