Anthony Bennett, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, took lack of on-court enthusiasm to new heights this week.
No need for a major setup as the video speaks loudly to the Cleveland Cavaliers forward lack of interest in setting a pick against the Philadelphia 76ers. Just know you read this introduction faster than Bennett moved eight feet.
If this was just a particularly lazy moment in an otherwise impressive or simply decent first-year from the UNLV product, we'd all mock, laugh and move on. Alas, it's not. Bennett started glacier-slow this season by missing his first 16 field goal attempts. Overall, the 6-foot-8 forward is averaging 2.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 11 minutes while shooting 27 percent from the field.
It's gotten so bad that some are suggesting the top pick shouldn't be with Cleveland but learning his craft in the D-League. No word if the Cavaliers are actually debating such a move. If management is anything like Bennett, the deliberation process will be a slow one.
