Block party: Wizards defense slows LeBron, Heat

Somehow, despite a temperature in triple digits, hurling on the bench and having to defend LeBron James, Trevor Ariza made it through. He played 35 minutes, had 10 points, five assists, two steals and four rebounds in the Wizards' 114-97 rout of the Miami Heat on Wednesday night.

James finished with 25 points but only shot 8-for-18. He missed all four attempts from three-point range. The Wizards (18-19) got out to a fast start, leading 43-18 after the first quarter, with their best one-on-one perimeter defender faced with the planet's best player.

"Trevor was under the weather all morning, gave me his all. He wasn't feeling up but now he's got to come out and guard LeBron," Wizards coach Randy Wittman said. "He's probably sicker now."

John Wall, who led the Wizards with 25 points, had high praises for Ariza.

"You just give him a lot a credit. He came in with a 102 fever, not feeling well even when he came out in the first quarter," Wall said. "He was throwing up on the sideline. He just stuck with it and gave us a lot of effort. That's the one thing you can respect is being a professional, a guy, he didn't have a lot of energy but what he had he put for that effort to help us compete tonight."
