Even in the midst of a lengthy rain delay Monday night, fans at Nationals Park still had plenty to cheer for as the Wizards playoff game was broadcast on the jumbo screen.
The Nationals opened up a three-game home series against the Los Angeles Dodgers Monday in a game that featured a pitching matchup between Zack Greinke and Jordan Zimmermann. The Nationals gave the fans plenty to cheer for early on as Rendon hit a two-run home run early in the first inning. Later on, however, it was the Wizards who had the fans celebrating.
Midway through the fourth inning after steady rainfall, the game was delayed for rain. That didn't mean the fans at the park didn't have a team to cheer for, however.
Also on Monday, the Wizards opened up their second round series in Indianapolis against the Pacers. Those fans who decided to brave the elements to attend the Nationals game would have missed the playoff action, but with the rain delay fans found themselves treated to some basketball.
Instead of Rendon and Zimmermann, fans cheered instead for John Wall and Bradley Beal. The Wizards would go on to earn 'curly W' by the score of 102-96.
