Former MLB player and longtime Washington Senators third baseman Eddie Yost passed away on Tuesday at the age of 86. Yost played 14 seasons with Washington and 18 total in the big leagues from 1944 to 1962.

Yost began his major league career with the Senators at the young age of 17 before serving in the Navy for a year at 18. He returned to play with Washington for 13 seasons before moving on to the Detroit Tigers.

Nicknamed the "Walking Man," Yost led the league in walks six different times in his career with four of those years in Washington. He also once led the majors in doubles with 36 in 1951. Yost was an All-Star in 1952 and three times finished with MVP votes.

After his playing career, Yost stayed in baseball as a coach and was part of the Senators' staff from 1963 to 1967. He served as third base coach under managers Mickey Vernon and Gil Hodges.
