- LANDOVER, Md. - The Redskins and Cowboys play for the NFC East title in the NFL's regular-season finale. Dallas can make the playoffs only with a victory. Game starts 8:20 p.m.

- MINNEAPOLIS - The Vikings try to claim a wild-card spot when they face the NFC North champion Packers. Minnesota's Adrian Peterson is 208 yards from a single-season rushing record. Game starts 4:25 p.m.

- DETROIT - Chicago, after five defeats in seven games, needs a victory and a Minnesota loss to salvage a wild-card spot. The Bears play a Detroit team that's lost seven in a row. Game starts 1 p.m.

- INDIANAPOLIS - The Texans play for home-field advantage in the playoffs when they meet Indianapolis. Colts coach Chuck Pagano returns to the sidelines for the first time since Week 3. Game starts 1 p.m.

- LOS ANGELES - Fresh off a two-point win in Utah, Chris Paul and the Clippers try to extend the NBA's longest winning streak this season to 17 games when the Jazz visit Los Angeles. Game starts 9:30 p.m.

- LOS ANGELES - The Rose Bowl on New Year's Day features two stellar tailbacks in Montee Ball of Wisconsin and Stepfan Taylor of Stanford.

- Stories on Monday's four bowl games: Music City (Vanderbilt-North Carolina State), Liberty (Iowa State-Tulsa), Chick-fil-A (LSU-Clemson), Sun (Georgia Tech-Southern California).

- MINNEAPOLIS - The Big Ten basketball season opens Monday, with No. 11 Minnesota playing No. 19 Michigan State.

- BRISBANE, Australia - Serena Williams opens her 2013 season with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Varvara Lepchenko in the Brisbane International.

- UFA, Russia - U.S. loses to Canada 2-1 in the junior ice hockey world championships. The Americans need to beat Slovakia on Monday to advance.
