NEW YORK (AP) Comments on the Chicago Bears by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
CHICAGO BEARS (3)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 7) - Defense scoring at same rate as 2007 Patriots offense.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 2) - Amazingly opportunistic defense makes them Super Bowl contenders.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 3)
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 3) - A league best 28 takeaways on defense is impressive.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 2) - The turnover machine that is the Bears came up with five more, including four forced fumbles by Charles Tillman and an interception return for TD by Brian Urlacher in a 51-20 beatdown of the Titans. Biggest day yet for Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall, who team up for three TDs.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 3) - The Bears have scored six defensive touchdowns this season. Cornerbacks Charles Tillman and Tim Jennings and linebackers Lance Briggs and Brian Urlacher have all found the end zone.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 2) - Which offense would you rather have: Jacksonville's or the Bears' defense?
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 3) - This marauding defense never rests - until it reaches the end zone.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 2) - The defense is going to break the record for scoring and Cutler to Marshall is on fire. I do worry about the pass protection with 14 sacks in the last three weeks.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 3) - The Bears looked very complete in hammering the Titans. Exciting brawl upcoming with the Texans Sunday night.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 2) - The Bears scored in almost every fashion imaginable during last Sunday's 51-20 rout of Tennessee.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 2) - Their confidence is sky-high, and it gets real now for the Bears with the Texans and 49ers up next.
